  • Ballina Shire Volunteer of the Year 2025 Australia Day Awards

President of Quota  Alstonville Diane Parker was honoured with the 2025 Volunteer of the Year Award at the Ballina Australia Day Awards.

Diane is a Charter member of Alstonville and has been a Quota member for 34 years. During that time she has instigated many of the Clubs memorable events including the Bras on the Fence in 2005 and the Boots for Boys for mental health awareness. Diane is described as having an ear to the ground looking for ways to help her local community.

During the 2017 and 2022 floods Diane’s profile in the national Quota organisation resulted in donations of over $100,000 from other clubs and friends for distribution in the community. This resulted in funding a Trauma Art program for teenagers, a new freezer for the Ballina Hot Meal kitchen, lots of individual help to organisations and a bulk of the monies went to pre schools to rebuild.

The craft and Garden Fair remains a special project for Diane & the club and over the years has raised thousands for community projects.
